This day we decided to start with the rising sun on the mission in Santa Barbara. Actually as we were driving over the Gaviota pass from Dad's place it was enveloped in a sea of fog, so I was hoping we would get some sweet fog shots, but by the time we arrived at the mission, the fog had kind of rolled back to the beach area and the sun was looking pretty sweet as it shone on the mission. After that we headed to the Harbor, then walked along the bike path on Cabrillo Boulevard to Stearns Wharf, then we went for lunch at Cucas then headed over to Hendry's Beach for a nice walk before heading back to Dad's place.
STEARN'S WHARF
Robert, I know how much you loathe sharks, so I am very disheartened to report that they are now invading the sandy beaches as well - sorry bro!
Remember during summer vacation we used to swim at this pool down by the harbor?
Sambos - the most un-PC restaurant in America (or at least the west coast)!
THE HARBOR
Thankfully the Brown Pelicans have a (relatively) safe haven in Santa Barbara.
A Great Blue Heron flew right over our head.
These were a pair of very young barn swallows that were taking a break together on the rocks near the water.
God only knows what this seagull was eating aside from the crab, but it looked pretty gross!!
The omnipresent dredge!
HENDRY'S BEACH
Ok, at first I was fascinated by the patterns on the rocks, but now looking at them skeeves me out - I HATE HOLES! Eewwwww!
