Day 8 - La Purisima Mission (6/25/10)

I have to say, this was one of my most favorite days of our trip. Originally we were going to go check out the Point Conception lighthouse, but for some reason during my research, I missed the part about it being closed to the public. So after driving over that way for an hour and discovering it was for naught, we opted to check out the La Purisima Mission which we'd passed along the way. I know I had been here once or twice as a kid, but I couldn't really remember what it looked like and it was not in the forefront of my mind as a must-photograph place. However, I couldn't have been more happy that we stopped. It was a shutterbugs dream and I got some of my best shots from vacation while we were there...

This little burro was so cute, poor little guy had some serious sway back.

There was a little covey of California quail that collected in this area pecking sees from the grass. I have never seen quail in the wild before so it was a nice treat!

A major fire ant nest!

Gigantic white poppies.

Squirrel in mustard. These things were all over the place here!!

A Texas longhorn of all things. This boy was HUGE too!
