Seattle - The City

Here are just a few of the skyline, which is pretty awesome! (They are a little out of order)

This was taken from Kerry Park which is about the size of 4-5 house lots that overlook the Seattle skyline with a wonderfully unobstructed view. The sky was pretty clear too so we caught a nice view of Mount Rainier in the background as the sun was going down.

Gorgeous skyline taken from Kerry Park which is the perfect overlook of the city as the sun sets.

This is the Seattle Science Center that she shot before the Space Needle the last night we were there. I took some from the top of the Space Needle, but I didn't have my tripod or my remote release (bad planning) so they all came out really porrly so I am not posting any. However, the view from on top was really incredible and it was really nice hanging out with Joe up there before we had to go back home the next day.

Seattle - Flowers

I am finally getting around to posting photos from our trip to Seattle in August. Here are some pictures of flowers we saw on our travels. The bulk of them were taken at this awesome Dahlia garden that was at Volunteer Park where we went before going to Cody's parent's place for an AMAZING salmon dinner!

I thought these thistles looked pretty interesting

I like that this one had a lone red petal among all these yellow speckled ones.

I loved that this Dahlia, which was in someone's front yard in the Kerry Park area, caught the setting sun just perfectly!

Cranes...No, Not the Mechanical Kind...

A couple of weekends ago we went to a place up north to see cranes of all sorts. Most were behind chain link fences which made for horrible shots as the first three show, but the rest were not so bad.

Illinois Railway Museum

Saturday we organized a Meet Up at the Illinois Railway Museum. As it turned out, only John and I and another couple went, but we had a smashing good time. I never heard of this place until recently and I didn't think it would be as big as it was. In fact we didn't even see all the train garages that they had. Here are some pictures I took...you will notice I tried a different style of post-processing on these...some successful, some not...

This was one of the conductors who drives some of the trains there on short lines around the area.

Some of the paint peeling of the ones outside made the most interesting patterns.

This was a private sleeper car. I was sitting on the bench chair in there and you can see my proximity to the sink. To the left was a table top that folded up to reveal the private toilet. Flip the seat I was on down and out came the bed. The model of efficiency and privacy. It was rather comfy if not a little cramped.
